Medical device manufacturer PT Oneject Indonesia plans to expand to build a new syringe manufacturer in Cikarang, West Java as part of the company’s efforts to increase production capacity to meet the increasing demand for medical devices in Indonesia. Currently, the company has a production unit in Bogor.
President Director of PT Oneject Indonesia Jahja Tear Tjahjana said the company’s move was to build a new production unit in Cikarang to meet the need for increased production units that the old factory was able to fulfill. “The capacity of our first factory is difficult to develop again in the old location,” said Jahja in his statement in Jakarta, Monday (7/10).
The construction of the factory also responds to WHO which has started to announce the use of safe injecting equipment around the world in 2020. Safe means not only for patients, but also injecting equipment that is safe for health workers without the risk of being stabbed.
The construction of a new factory, continued Jahja, also supports the government’s program to expand the use of domestic products in the medical device segment. The ratio of the use of injection equipment to the population in Indonesia tends to increase in line with the improvement in government services in the health sector
Jahja said that the new factory will be developed with a production capacity of 900 million Auto Disable Syringes per year, and 1.2 billion syringes with Safety Needles per year. “In addition to these two products, the factory in Cikarang will also produce Sterilization Facilities for Medical Devices,” he added.
According to him, the government’s support for the use of domestic products is very meaningful for all domestic producers, especially manufacturers of disposable syringes with local content of around 60 percent. “We continue to try to increase the percentage,” he concluded.
